The CMCA credential recognizes individuals who have demonstrated the fundamental knowledge required to manage community associations. Credentialing has become a strong focus within the community association management profession. NBC-CAM's certification program requires CMCAs to take and pass a prerequisite course on community association management prior to taking the certification examination. Once the CMCA has been earned, continuing education is needed to maintain the certification.
NBC-CAM believes that education and professional development remain a critical component of the CMCA program. As part of this emphasis, a newly established committee reviews applications from companies interested in offering prerequisite and continuing education coursework to community association managers. The process creates a structure that requires senior level community association managers to review proposed continuing education courses to ensure that the coursework offers the appropriate content and level of difficulty for a professional who has earned the CMCA. The committee reviews courses monthly.
